The cold brew: a fresh recipe for summer

Cold brew, or cold brewed coffee, is the perfect beverage to “twist” your coffee in the summer! It is patiently prepared to give the coffee time to slowly release all the richness of its aroma. Using MushUp coffees in addition is to add a unique flavor and benefit from all its    mushrooms' properties that are no longer presented to you. Follow our recipe, and enjoy it for its refreshing side and rich taste!

Ingredients for the coffee concentrate 

  • ½ cup -125 g or 4.4 oz coffee beans
  • 0.5 L, or 2 cups of water (quantity to be adjusted according to your tastes)

Ingredients for the iced coffee  

  • cold brewed coffee concentrate  
  • 3 ice cubes  
  • honey (to be dosed according to your tastes)
  • milk or coffee cream (depending on your concentration preference)  

Step #1: make your coffee concentrate

  • Grind your MushUp coffee beans to obtain a coarse grind and pour it into an airtight container.
  • Gradually add water to the container, making sure to mix well and close the container.
  • Let the mixture rest in the fridge for 12 to 24 hours depending on the strength of flavour you are looking for.
  • Take the infusion out of the fridge and slowly pass it through the coffee filter to keep only the clear liquid.
  • Cover and chill your solution.

    Please note: your concentrate keeps very well for a week in the refrigerator!

    Step #2: Prepare your iced coffee!

    • Fill your glasses with ice.  
    • Pour a volume of cold brewed coffee concentrate into it.  
    • Spice up your recipe with honey, your favourite milk or coffee cream.
    • Serve and enjoy!

    “Twist” your recipe!

    There are endless possibilities: you can add pure vanilla extract, make an iced mocha or replace the milk with chocolate milk. You can also make a coffee shake or an alcohol-based cocktail. To make it even better, you can flavour your grind by adding cinnamon powder, ginger, orange peel or even nutmeg. Have fun creating recipes with this cold coffee infusion!
