How to make a responsible coffee?

Offering a quality coffee, produced in an ethical way shouldn't be a matter of choice. At MushUp, we make it a point of honor to respect all the actors in our production chain: eco-responsibility, fairness and wellness are key values that have guided us in the development of a unique coffee.

They also allow us to make a difference in a sector where culture often damages the environment. Historically, the world of coffee and coffee farming has seen several scandals involving the exploitation of workers: poverty wages, employment of minors or inhumane working conditions. Currently, 80% of coffee is bought by large multinationals that often leave very little profit to the harvesters.

This leads to school dropouts, lack of social security coverage and a precarious long-term situation for the workers and their families. This vision of coffee, often forgotten or ignored, favors profitability to the detriment of respect for human rights.

At MushUp, we work to make our coffee eco-friendly and responsible! It’s this reality, combined with our love of roasted beans, that has guided us in the elaboration of a quality product that is respectful of those who have worked on it. All this accompanied by its dose of adaptogenic mushrooms, of course! ;)

From production to tasting, MushUp cares about everyone and we make it a point to incorporate our values into our procedures.

We use local micro-roasters and master roasters who, with their expertise, bring out the best in our hand-harvested, fair-trade certified coffee beans, as well as our organic mushrooms. We use 100% natural extracts in our coffees.

We believe it is important to make these super foods, such as adaptogenic mushrooms, accessible to all. MushUp's goal is to integrate the benefits of mushrooms in our routine, coffee. You will find in our products Cordyceps, Chaga, Reishi, Coriolus Versicolor or Lion's Mane, all ingredients are respected and valued in each step of the creation of the products. The mushroom producers we use are located in Quebec. Favoring short circuits has the double advantage of using local labor while limiting the carbon footprint associated with transportation.

Respectful packaging

Marketing an eco-friendly coffee also requires a reflection on the container of these small roasted beans. At MushUp, we offer you zero waste containers.

Indeed, these containers are 99% compostable (except for the recyclable metal tab) and have a unique design for each coffee variety.

For the regulars, you don't need to read the name of the coffee anymore, its characteristic visual is there to inform you.
