Different coffee makers

Originating from Africa, America or Asia, coffee is enjoyed all over the world. Here are the coffee makers and types of grind to choose from, depending on whether you prefer it smooth, strong or aromatic... enough to become your own barista!

Electric coffee maker with filter

Electric coffee maker with filter

As its name suggests, this coffee maker uses a filter system. It contains a tank where the water, once heated, is slowly poured over the coffee grounds in your filter. The liquid then flows into a receptacle, usually made of glass: this is the principle of infusion.

There are three types of machines: one with a drip system for a lighter coffee, another with a spray system for a more homogeneous distribution and a more aromatic coffee, and the last one, a "hybrid" machine that combines the drip principle with the spray system.

Available filters can be disposable in white or brown paper (without bleaching treatment) or permanent.

For a more eco-friendly coffee, prefer their washable (linen) or biodegradable version.

We recommend a medium grind for this type of model. Note that all our coffees work very well in the preparation of filter coffee ;).

How to make a good filter coffee

  1. Place your filter.

  2. Pour 10 g of your favorite coffee per 100 ml (one heaping teaspoon).

  3. Fill the water tank as needed.

  4. Press the button.

  5. Enjoy.

Tip: You can adjust the amount of powder according to your taste. The higher the weight, the stronger the coffee.

French/Piston press coffee maker

French/Piston press coffee maker

The piston coffee maker consists of a cylindrical glass container in which a press is located to separate the grounds from the rest of the coffee by pressure. The tool also works on the principle of infusion.

To make a good coffee, you need to choose a coarse grind that you can grind at home with a manual or electric coffee grinder. There are all kinds on the market.

Recipe for a successful coffee with a French press

  1. Warm the container with hot water: this avoids the hot-cold that is fatal to glass containers.

  2. Heat water to 90°C in a saucepan or kettle.

  3. Empty your coffee pot of hot water and add 7.5 g of ground coffee per 90 ml cup.

  4. Pour your water at 90°C over your ground coffee and cover with the plunger lid without lowering it.

  5. Leave to brew for 3 to 5 minutes.

  6. Gently press the plunger and wait another 5 minutes.

  7. Serve yourself

The piston coffee maker preserves the coffee's aromas by limiting bitterness. The fruity notes of our Vigor coffee go well with this type of coffee maker.

Coffee with dripper

Coffee with dripper

The coffee dripper (filter holder) works on the principle of slow coffee. It is a cone placed above a cup in which a filter is placed. The Chemex is a variant of the dripper with an additional receptacle. It is recommended to use a medium grind with the dripper. Our VIGOR range is still perfect with this device. Being a third wave coffee with a light roast, dripper brewing brings out all the red berry flavors, without the bitterness and acidity of this type of roast.

Recipe for a successful drip coffee

  1. Heat 300 ml of filtered or spring water to 90-95 °C in a pot or kettle.

  2. Place your dripper with a filter over a 2-cup container.

  3. Rinse the filter with hot water, wait for it to drain completely and empty the water.

  4. Place 15 to 30 g of coffee in your filter.

  5. Pour 60 ml of your previously heated water to degas the coffee and wait 30 seconds.

  6. Pour the remaining 240 ml of liquid in a circular motion.

  7. Remove the dripper and filter.

  8. Enjoy.

Italian coffee maker

Italian coffee maker

The Italian coffee maker, also called Moka, is a metal device to be placed directly on a stove. It uses the expansion of hot air to make coffee, also called a pressure system. The coffee maker consists of 3 main elements: a water tank at the base of the device, a funnel containing the ground coffee and a receptacle at the top of the coffee maker to collect the coffee. As it boils, the water rises through the ground coffee and lands in the top tank.

The moka can be made of stainless steel, copper or aluminum. There are also electric versions. Medium-fine ground espressos are best suited to this device.

Recipe for a successful Italian coffee

  1. Fill the small funnel provided for this purpose with ground coffee by tapping, but without packing the small dome made by the coffee.

  2. Fill the water tank with the desired number of cups with a small surplus.

  3. Place your coffee maker on your stove with the lid open and wait for the liquid to rise to the top compartment.

  4. When the liquid has finished flowing, close the lid, and remove the pot from the stove.

  5. Serve yourself.

Our Vital, Spark and Decaf lines are perfect for your Italian coffee maker.

Coffee with reusable capsules

Coffee with reusable capsules

Often chosen for its simplicity of use and time saving, the capsule coffee maker uses a percolation system. To limit your ecological footprint, we recommend the reusable versions. There are plastic or better, stainless steel capsule models, which in addition to reducing your waste, will allow you to save money in the long term. Take a model adapted to your machine and test all our coffees!

The machine is composed of different elements: a water tank, a pump, a removable capsule and a heating block.

It is the capsule that serves as a filter for the coffee. Then, by the action of a pump, a pressure is generated in the capsule before its contact with water: it is the extraction of coffee.

This process has the advantage of bringing out the aromas thanks to a progressive oxygenation due to the pulsating movement of the pump.

No need for sophisticated processes to make a good coffee, the machine takes care of it automatically. All you have to do is choose the grind that suits you before filling the capsule: the finer the grind, the stronger the coffee.

How to use your capsule:

  1. Fill the water tank.

  2. Place your pre-filled capsule in the receptacle provided for this purpose.

  3. Press the button.

  4. Enjoy.
